A207 Anseriformes
These are waterfowl. They include the ducks, geese
and swans. There are about 150 living species in three
families. All species in the
order are highly adapted for an aquatic existence at the
water surface. All are web-footed for efficient swimming
(although some have subsequently become mainly terrestrial).
This poster complements our popular
Game Birds and Game Fowl (Galliformes) poster, which
shows the frequently hunted birds that live on land, such as
turkey and pheasants. For those interested in this subject,
